The dead zone slider only changes this display; raw values are always shown. Controller hardware, browser mapping and calibration can all affect readings, so treat results as a measurement, not a diagnosis. Ratings: under 2% excellent, 2–5% minor, 5–10% moderate, 10%+ significant.

Roll each stick slowly around its outer edge.

A direction counts as reached at 90% travel. Many sticks read slightly past 100% on diagonals; a stick that stops well short in one direction may be worn or obstructed.

Results appear here as you test: buttons, both sticks, triggers and vibration.
This summary only reports what the browser observed. It can't detect every hardware fault, and readings depend on the browser, driver and connection.
Vibration
Connect a controller to check vibration support.

Connecting a DualSense to your computer
USB (most reliable)
- Use a USB-C cable that carries data, not just power.
- Plug the controller into your computer and press any button on this page.
Bluetooth
- With the controller off, hold Create and the PS button together until the light bar around the touchpad starts blinking rapidly.
- Open Bluetooth settings on your computer, phone or tablet and select “DualSense Wireless Controller”.
- Come back to this tab and press a button.
Pairing it to a computer unpairs it from your PS5. To reconnect to the console later, plug it into the PS5 with a cable and press the PS button.
How PlayStation buttons map in the browser
When the browser recognizes the DualSense (most versions of Chrome, Edge and Safari do), it uses the standard gamepad layout and the tester shows PlayStation labels:
- Face buttons: Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle
- Shoulders: L1 and R1 are digital; L2 and R2 are analog triggers from 0 to 100%
- Sticks: two analog sticks, each clickable as L3 and R3
- Center: Create, Options, the PS button and — in Chromium browsers — a touchpad click
The total button count varies by browser. Chrome typically reports 18 buttons including the touchpad click; other browsers may report fewer. The tester counts whatever the browser actually exposes.
What a browser can’t test on a DualSense
The Gamepad API is deliberately generic, so several DualSense-specific features aren't visible to any web page:
- Adaptive trigger resistance — you can test L2/R2 range, but not the motorized resistance.
- Touchpad position — only the click is exposed, not where your finger is.
- Motion sensors — gyroscope and accelerometer aren't available.
- Speaker, microphone and light bar — not accessible.
- Haptics — some browsers can send a basic rumble, but not the DualSense's detailed haptic effects. The vibration card tells you whether rumble is available in your setup.
Testing sticks and buttons
DualSense stick drift is a common complaint, so start with the drift test: let go of the controller and press Test for drift. Then roll each stick around its edge to confirm it reaches full range. Squeeze L2 and R2 slowly to check they move smoothly from 0 to 100%. A trigger that jumps or tops out early is easy to spot on the meter. For a full breakdown of the drift numbers, see the stick drift test guide.
If the PS button doesn't register, that's often because the operating system or Steam uses it, not because the button is faulty.
Frequently asked questions
Can I test a PS5 controller without a PS5?
Yes. Connect it to any computer, phone or tablet with a USB-C cable or Bluetooth and open this page. You don't need the console or any PlayStation software.
Why isn’t my DualSense detected?
Press a button while this tab is focused — browsers hide controllers until then. If that doesn't help, try a different USB-C cable, close Steam or DS4Windows, or re-pair over Bluetooth.
Does this work with a PS4 DualShock 4?
Yes. The DualShock 4 uses the same PlayStation labels. Its Share button appears where the DualSense's Create button does.
Why do L2 and R2 not reach 100%?
Press them all the way down slowly. If one consistently stops short, the trigger sensor may be worn or obstructed. Adaptive trigger effects set by a game can also leave resistance applied until the controller is reset.
Can I test DualSense vibration here?
Sometimes. Chromium browsers can send a basic rumble to many DualSense controllers. If your browser doesn't expose it, the vibration card says so rather than pretending.
